Florida Safari = Crafters Inspiration

Tweet Florida is such an amazing state~ gotta love the awesome tropical weather just about all year round. Being a native Floridian we do often seek out fun natural crafts to work with for our kids crafts like seashell crafts, pine cone crafts and other fun tropical treasures. In Florida you turn one way and your ocean side or like we did today head west and you just might find yourself in the middle of an African safari. Since it was a beautiful outside day we decided to step away from the craftroom and head out for a wild time at Lion Country Safari with our girls. There is nothing like some new inspiration thanks to nature and this last minute adventure did just that. The girls had such a blast on the Safari and later were surprised to see how many crafters on Etsy have items inspired by nature and all those cool creatures we just visited: Fun Zebra prints, cool Lions, giraffes and even leopards too. The genuine colors and patterns are so inspiring and fun to work with. We found all these fun Safari theme items from many of our Etsy TeamFest members. We also included some of our friendly Etsy shop owners that are living right there close to the Lion Country Safari savanahs. I wonder if they hear the Lions roar in the morning? Sunshine Kids Craft Love Letters for TEAMFest Event!

Tweet The Esty Street Team is getting the Holiday Season well underway!  The team chose to work with Love Letters Cares and crafters all thoughout Florida are putting in to send a little love in the mail to those in need. As part of this team effort, the Paper Niche in Davie, Florida set up and allowed use of their wonderful craft room/ tables  ( and stocked with tools!)  for folks to gather together for a a loving cause.  FromBeths and "family" joined in on the fun~ Just about our entire family showed from Mom, Sister, Nieces, Friends and of course my "little crafters."  The children had such special time and put together some fantastic cards for Love Letters to share with children in need. Sunshine Kid's Craft Corner " A Beautiful Princess Crown" DIY Princess

Tweet Every little girl loves to dress up as a Princess and its even more fun when they can join in and handcraft some of the pretty accessories to for their imaginative playtime. This little craft is perfect for children of all ages and so much fun to make. It's perfect for an everyday craft, Princess Party Craft or Halloween Dress up Time!

Supply List

Curly Ribbon ( Lots of It!) In all her favorite colors
Sizzors ( Blunt Edge for Little One's Please)
Wired Gift Wrap ( Take your Pick!)
Other Fun Embellishments of your Little One's Liking!

Optional

Paint Pens

Step 1:  Using the wired Gift Wrap Ribbon Create a Circle Just a little Wider Than your Little Ones headsize. The Great thing about this wired wrap is that it's so easy to size up. Double up the Circle so that it's a little thicker and will maintain it's shape.



Step 2: Cut REALLY Long Strands of Ribbon from your Curly Ribbon Spool. Create about 4 long strands ( which will actually be 8 when you clip the ends. Keep one end so that you can create a Loop as shown in the picture below. Then you'll simply want to loop the long strands through.

Step 3: Repeat in alternating colors. (Starting to look like something now? )   :)

Step 4: Once you have added at least 3 to 5 loops of Ribbon you can Curl It Up!

So Cute!

Optional Wand

Step 1: These little wands can be found in most craft stores like Michaels or JoAnne's. Sometimes party stores have them too

Step 2: Use matching wired ribbons and curly ribbons. Wrap the wired ribbon around and then wrap the ends around a pencil to get a nice curl.

Step 3: Add a little curly ribbon, paint and embellish to your Princesses Hearts Desire!

Sunshine Kids Craft Corner- Christmas in July Seashell Angels Christmas Ornaments

Tweet We are so excited about this months Kids Craft Idea! It's straight from the Sea. Our family had the pleasure of a wonderful Mini Family Reunion this month on the West Coast of Florida at Sanibel Island. It was the most wonderful experience as our girls are reaching the age where they were really able to interact and be involved with all the family fun. There were just about 50 of  us all together and children ranging in ages from 22 to 6 months. We even had mini crafting sessions with the kids making seashell jewelry and creating our giant personalized reunion cups! (Have to keep the crafting generations going!)

Now of course, Sanibel Island is known for it's incredible Seashells! The girls just couldn't get enough and of course I am looking at them all going ohh. we can make this.. ohh. let's make that. Just fun. As a crafter I just love Christmas in July so we decided that our first Childrens Craft with these incredible seashells would be Christmas Seashell Angels. We are making them for each family from our reunion and don't worry we will have some for you too! 



Supply List:
1. Shells
2. Ribbon Color of Choice
3. Ribbon or WireWrap Gold for Halo
4. Glitter
5. Hot Glue Gun
6. Embellishments of Choice
7. Round Bead or Pearl for Angel Head




Step 1: Pick from your seashells two shells for the seashell angels wings and one larger shell for her body and a bead for her head.
Step 2: If you like glitter ( we do!) go ahead and apply some glitter to your seashell angels wings and body

Step 3: Cut your Ribbon to your preferred length for hanging your Seashell Angel Ornament and with Adult Supervision use the glue gun and apply glue to the back of the shell body and attach your Ribbon



Step 4: Attach your Seashell Angel Wings using the glue gun and allow to time to dry
Step 6: Apply Gold Ribbon around the Halo Bead you Selected for Your Seashell Angels Head and then Glue Just above the Wing Shells

Step 7: Apply your choosen embellishments like stars, sequens or rhinestones

So now you have these beautiful Seashell Angels that can be hung on your Christmas Tree, Given As Gifts and adored forever as they made by the hands of your favorite little people.
